Wireless Infrastructure Group has a strong and diverse group of shareholders who all play an active part in the development of the business:
RBS Equity Finance – RBSEF manages a £1.1bn special opportunities fund with a range of investments in the infrastructure sector. RBSEF first backed Wireless Infrastructure Group in October 2006 and was attracted by the group’s ambitious growth plans. Further funding was provided during 2007. Alistair Stewart represents RBSEF on the board.
Brendan Clouston – Brendan was an early shareholder in Wireless Infrastructure Group. Brendan spent 15 years at Tele-Communications Inc (TCI) including six years as Chief Operating Officer. During this period TCI became the leading broadcast and mobile network group in the US before its sale to AT&T in 1998. Brendan’s role included responsibility for all domestic video, telephony, satellite and internet operations. He was founder of a number of significant network ventures including Sprint PCS. Brendan moved to the UK 10 years ago and backed Wireless Infrastructure Group in 2001. Brendan is a non executive director.
Penta Capital – Penta is a leading mid market private equity firm that first invested in Wireless Infrastructure Group in 2002 to support the acquisition of Anglian Water’s telecoms assets. Penta have continued to support the business and provided further equity funding during 2007. Head of Penta, Steven Scott is non executive chairman of Wireless Infrastructure Group.
Anwar Bajwa - Anwar has over 20 years experience in the cellular industry. Early roles included Cellnet’s first network planning manager and One 2 One director of network engineering. In 1991 Anwar co-founded MSI – an international radio frequency consultancy and software products company sold to Marconi in 2000 for £400m. He also co-founded Celtel the Pan-African mobile network operator in 1996, sold to MTC Kuwait in 2006 for $3.1bn. Anwar played a leading role in the specifications for GSM and continues to participate in new technologies and network strategies for wireless in various ventures. Anwar is a non executive director.
Andrew Sukawaty - Andrew ("Andy") has spent 30 years in the telecommunications industry and has been involved in the wireless sector since its inception. In 1990 Andy became COO of One to One (now T Mobile UK) where he launched the business. In 1993 he became CEO of NTL (now Arqiva) and in 1996 he was appointed CEO & President of Sprint PCS.
Andy is currently Chairman and CEO of Inmarsat, the world’s leading mobile satellite services provider and Chairman of Xyratex. He has held a range of non-executive positions including Deputy Chairman of O2.
